I wrote this poem while I was on a campout with the kids a month or so ago. I woke up in the middle of the night and was amazed at how much of the sky I could see, even so close to downtown Austin. I’m reflecting on it and ready to share it now as I embark on my first trip to the Holy Land. It seems so amazing to be able to walk, sleep, eat, and pray where Jesus, the living Son of God, lived His earthly life. Thank you Lord for the blessing of this trip and to be able to do it with my mom!
I am a comet.
From humble substances I was formed and set in motion, ablaze.
Shining brighter with the passage of time, the laws of the Great Force propel me onward.
Doggedly pursuing my stellar path, my unique trajectory, I accelerate, eschewing detritus that hampers velocity.
I am a comet.
Map my coordinates, anticipate when you’ll catch a glimpse of me, make plans to see me.
Look up! Because you may not get this view again in this lifetime.
Let your viewing of me change you, let it alter your cosmic journey.
Align your trajectory with me, accelerate toward that which is our shared destiny. The journey is brief but glorious.
And at the end, Great Force, let my path end with You and in You so that there is no me that is not You.
There is no light, no glory, no majesty, that is not You and You alone. Let me be so honored as to be humbled to one day be one with you, the Triune God, my greatest Love.
There’s definately a lot to learn about this issue. I really like all the points
you made.
