Yes, I know, I know, “sheep” has a negative connotation. Unthinking followers. Sheeple.
But let me tell you how I came up with this name. I cracked open my bible and I visited some of my most favorite verses. I prayed for the Spirit to lead me, and then I checked at least 10 other names first, and they were already registered 🙂
Then I got to this one:
This immediately resonated with some of the reasons why I was starting this blog in the first place.
I am being sent AS A SHEEP… (not a tiger or an orca or some other incredible predator or otherwise uncannily gifted creature — no offense to actual sheep)
Into the midst of wolves (let’s be real, the real-life wolves are nothing on the internet wolves).
I’m working on the wisdom and the innocence, that’s part of the spiritual journey I’m sharing here.
Also, um, forget about the negative connotations out there. One of my strengths is a healthy attitude that gives minimal flips to the naysayers. If Jesus, the Good Shepherd, sends me as a sheep, that’s good enough for me!
Things I also like but are not so relevant:
- Sheep is both a plural and a singular 🙂 This is called a “plurale tantun”. So now I have learned something new all because of this word.
- Sheep are referenced in many places in the bible, including parables. I look forward to exploring and posting some sheep-related-reflections in future posts
- Sheep remind me of New Zealand, my favorite travel destination so far (speaking of journeys)!
OK enough about sheep. I’ll get on to more of the meat of things now (see what I DID THERE! 🙂
