It’s Good Shepherd Sunday and of course I celebrate this day as the anniversary of the start of this blog, which is my little way to share my spiritual journey. God is so good and can give so many different interpretations of this Gospel, and I praise Him that His Spirit allowed me to discern a particular message today.
Scripture says:
When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
John 10:4–5 (RSVCE)
We are Jesus’ sheep, and through prayer and relationship, we know His voice. There are many strange voices we hear and unfortunately sometimes those voices come from within the flock.
Pope Benedict shared this week:
The Good Shepherd will always give us this message. His message will promote the dignity of every sheep, whether in His fold or not. His voice tells us to journey together, to love, to include. Any voice that does not keep unity and love first is from a stranger and not the Shepherd.
Let us be discerning sheep and know our Shepherd’s voice, especially when others seek to lead us astray! 🙏🏾
