It’s Pentecost ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐!
Come Holy Spirit! Enkindle in us the fire of your love ๐๐พ๐๐พ!
Pentecost is my favorite holiday (after Good Friday)! I have personally been blessed with the Charismatic Renewal and a deep appreciation and experience of the gifts and role of the Holy Spirit, my confidante, helper, guide, and friend!
I summarize my experience with the Charismatic Renewal as a “Peter becoming Paul” journey. Prior, I was book smart about my faith and strong in my belief. But with the renewal of the Spirit, my heart was opened ๐. I was more accepting of gray areas and generally adopted more of a pastoral approach toward others. Praise God that happened before I became a mother so I could put that mentality and fruit to practice from the start!
After the Renewal I felt God more! I heard God more! I am moved very frequently by the Spirit especially to tears of joy or sorrow. What a gift! The Spirit moves me to empathy with others. To feeling a pain or joy even when my brain doesn’t fully comprehend it.
There are now *Baptism in the Spirit” seminars virtually. I highly recommend it or checking with your parish or diocese to see if there is a Charismatic prayer group near you. It could literally change your relationship with God and others!
The Spirit is moving in communities today and the signs are not flashy or well marketed, but evident in the simple radiant joy, especially among sorrow, between people encountering and relating together in shared love of Jesus Christ!
I’m including some words from Papa Francisco below to reflect on in prayer:
Let us pray:
Great Spirit, our dear friend on my journey, fill me with your love.
Open the eyes of my Heart to see as You See, with the Father and the Son.
Humble me so that I see my faults and give me the strength to correct them. Take my heart and root out all evil, all weeds, all stone. Fill it with Your Self, that Your fruit will thrive abundantly.
To You I entrust the greatest desires and longings of my heart. Shepherd them to You!
Mold and guide them into a heart of flesh, a heart that feels, that excites, that wails in the sorrow of others. I accept, encourage, and make place to be more vulnerable with You.
Let me be always progressing toward the company of You, my gentle, playful, loving, fiercely protective companion of this Earthly life. Be with me now and always, until I can share in the presence of your triune relationship in Heaven.
