We only get so much time on earth so limiting distractions is critical! I apply this principal to my phone by making sure next-to-nothing sends me a notification! One exception to this rule is tweet notifications from Pope Francis! He is on a roll and often manages to convey something deep and profound in a 140 character tweet.
I usually keep screenshots of my favorite tweets in a photo album on my phone and then pray with them, but now that I have this blog, I thought I’d share it with the world. Without further ado, my favorite Pope Francis tweets for the journey!

Spiritual Journey
Being Christian is not first of all a doctrine or a moral ideal; it is a living relationship with the Risen Lord. #GospelOfTheDay
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 18, 2021
The Christian journey begins from the grace of receiving mercy. If we trust in our own abilities, in the efficiency of our structures and projects, we will not go far. Only if we accept the love of God, will we be able to offer something new to the world.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 29, 2021
The breath of faith is #prayer: we grow in faith inasmuch as we learn to pray. #GeneralAudience https://t.co/PKTt04jgfs
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 14, 2021
The Lord of life wants us to be full of life, and he tells us the secret of life: we come to possess it only by giving it away.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 23, 2021
There is no page of the Gospel on which there is no place for us. For us Christians, meditating is a way of coming into contact with Jesus. And in this way, only in this way, can we discover ourselves. #Prayer #GeneralAudience
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 28, 2021
Let us never tire of seeking the risen Christ who gives life in abundance to those who meet him. To find Christ means to discover peace in our hearts. #Easter #ReginaCoeli
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 5, 2021
This is the first #Easter message that I would offer you: it is always possible to begin anew, because there is a new life that God can awaken in us in spite of all our failures. From the rubble of our hearts, God can create a work of art.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 3, 2021
This is the second message of #Easter: faith is not an album of past memories; Jesus is not outdated. He is alive here and now. He walks beside you each day, in every situation you are experiencing, in every trial you have to endure, in your deepest hopes and dreams.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 3, 2021
This is the third message of #Easter: Jesus, the Risen Lord, loves us without limits and is there at every moment of our lives. He invites us to overcome barriers, banish prejudices and draw near to those around us every day in order to rediscover the grace of everyday life.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 3, 2021
In the midst of the contradictions and perplexities we must confront each day, the din of so many words and opinions, there is the quiet voice of the Risen Lord who keeps saying to us: “Peace be with you!”
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 13, 2021
Loving contemplation, typical of the most intimate #prayer, does not need many words. A gaze is enough. It is enough to be convinced that our life is surrounded by an immense and faithful love that nothing can ever separate us from. #GeneralAudience
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) May 5, 2021
Which way should I follow? There are ways that do not lead to Heaven: the ways of worldliness, the ways of self-affirmation, the ways of selfish power. And there is Jesus’ way, the way of humble love, of prayer, of meekness, of trust, of service to others.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) May 11, 2021
The love Jesus gives us is the same with which the Father loves Him: pure, unconditional, freely given love. By giving it to us, Jesus treats us like friends, making us know the Father, and he involves us in his same mission for the life of the world. #GospelOfTheDay (Jn 15:9-17)
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) May 9, 2021
Christians do not follow their own whims, but rather the call of love, the voice of Jesus.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) May 7, 2021
Today we need prophecy, but real prophecy. Miraculous demonstrations are not needed, but lives that demonstrate the miracle of God’s love.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) August 31, 2021
What is the secret of a blessed life, a happy life? Recognizing Jesus as the living God. For it is not important to know that Jesus was great in history. What matters is the place I give him in my life.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) August 30, 2021
Let us ask the Lord to help us be consistent and to courageously combat anything that can lead us away from the truth and from the faith we profess. Only thus can we truly build unity and fraternity. #GeneralAudience
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) August 25, 2021
God’s Love For Me
Jesus the #GoodShepherd defends, knows, and above all loves his sheep. This is why He gives His life for them. Love for his sheep, for each one of us, would lead him to die on the cross. For this is the Father’s will: that no one should be lost. #GospelOfTheDay (Jn 10:11-18)
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 25, 2021
As the Good Shepherd, Jesus consoles his shepherds. If you remain close to the Lord, to the bishop, among yourselves, and to the people of God; if you maintain God’s style – nearness, compassion and tenderness – you need not be afraid: everything will go well. #PriestlyOrdination
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 25, 2021
For God, you are that little coin that the Lord seeks without pause. He wants to tell you that you are precious and unique in His eyes. No one can take your place in the heart of God.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 20, 2021
God saves with love, not with force; offering Himself, not imposing Himself.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) May 6, 2021
In the #GospelOfTheDay, Jesus cautions us about a religiosity of appearances: looking good on the outside, while failing to purify the heart. He does not want outward appearances. He wants to put faith back at the center. He wants a faith that touches the heart.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) August 29, 2021
Saint Augustine said: “I fear that Jesus will pass by me unnoticed”. It is important to remain watchful, because one great mistake in life is to get absorbed in a thousand things and not to notice God.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) August 28, 2021
Love Others
The first way to pray for someone is to speak to God about him or her. If we do this frequently, each day, our hearts are not closed, but open to our brothers and sisters. To pray for others is the first way to love them and it moves us toward concretely drawing near. #Prayer
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 7, 2021
Let’s not wait for our neighbours to be good before we are good to them, for others to respect us before we serve them. Let’s begin with ourselves.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 26, 2021
In daily life, we can find the Risen One in the faces of our brothers and sisters above all in the poor and those on the fringes. We will be amazed how the greatness of God is revealed in littleness, how his beauty shines forth in the poor and simple.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 27, 2021
Mercy is made tangible, it becomes closeness, service, care for those in difficulty. I hope you will always feel you have been granted mercy, so as to be merciful to others in turn.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 11, 2021
Today is the day to ask, “Am I, who have so often received God’s mercy, merciful to others?” Let us not live a one-way faith, a faith that receives but does not give. Having received mercy, let us now become merciful. #DivineMercy
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 11, 2021
We are all in the same boat and called to work together so that there will be no more walls that separate us, no longer others, but only a single “we”, encompassing all of humanity. https://t.co/7ffKi9dzYG
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) May 6, 2021
God does not come to free us from our ever-present daily problems, but to free us from the real problem, which is the lack of love. This is the main cause of our personal, social, international and environmental ills. Thinking only of ourselves: this is the father of all evils.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) August 17, 2021
Prayer
Today, the Lord looks at each of us personally and asks: “Who am I – in fact – for you?” This question, addressed to each of us, calls for more than a quick answer straight out of the catechism; it requires a vital, personal response. #GospelOfTheDay
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) September 12, 2021
Praying is not easy. Each time we want to pray, we think of many other activities that seem more important and urgent. Almost always, after putting off #prayer, we realise that those things were not essential at all. This is how the Enemy deceives us. #GeneralAudience
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) May 12, 2021
Humility, Solidarity
Patience helps us to be merciful in the way we view ourselves, our communities and our world.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) August 21, 2021
It is in humility that we build the future of the world.
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) August 24, 2021
None can stand apart, either as individuals or as a nation. Cultivate the beauty of the whole. It requires patience and effort, courage and sharing, enthusiasm and creativity. Yet it is the human work blessed by heaven above. #ApostolicJourney https://t.co/gJyMpaWanm
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) September 13, 2021
Organized and efficient structures will not suffice to improve our life as a human community. We need the flavour of solidarity: society rediscovers its flavor through the gratuitous generosity of those who spend their lives for others. #ApostolicJourney
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) September 13, 2021
Suffering
The process of conversion always entails the cross. There is no holiness without sacrifice and without a spiritual battle. #HolyWeek
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) March 31, 2021
Jesus was lifted up on the cross to descend into our suffering, to plumb the depths of our human experience, to draw near to us and not abandon us in our suffering and our death. To redeem us, to save us. #HolyWeek
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) March 30, 2021
Fear and Death
Do not be afraid: these are words the Lord addresses to you, dear sister and brother, whenever you feel you can no longer delay your desire to give your life to him. It is a refrain accompanying all who say yes to God with their lives, through daily fidelity. #Prayer #Vocations
— Pope Francis (@Pontifex) April 25, 2021
Even death trembles when a Christian prays, because it knows that everyone who prays has an ally who is stronger than it: the Risen Lord. #Prayer #Easter
